The police on Tuesday arraigned a 45-year-old man, Olanrewaju Elijah before an Osun Magistrate’s court in Osogbo over a N2,031,000 rice scam.
Elijah, according to the charge sheet obtained by DAILY POST fraudulently obtained the sum of N2,031,000 from one Mrs. Kadirat Akande under pretence of supplying her seventy three bags of rice.
The defendant was brought a two-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing.
Police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Idoko John told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between the months of September and October 2016 at Osogbo.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravened sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code cap 34. Vol.II Laws of Osun State 2002. ....

25-year-old man arraigned for unlawful firearm possession, cultism

Osun State Police Command, on Wednesday, dragged a 25-year-old man, Ayoola Abiodun before Osun Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm and being a member of a secret cult.
The suspect was arraigned for being a member of an unlawful society, Aiye Confraternity and unlawfully possessing two live cartridges without authorisation.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun told the court that the suspect was said to have committed the offence on December 17, 2020, at about 12:30pm at Egbatedo area Osogbo.
He noted that the offence committed was contrary to Section 516, 64 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun state 2002 and Section 8 punishable under Section 27(1)(b)(11) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. ....
