A 47-year-old New Hartford man was arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old boy over the Thanksgiving holiday last year, according to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
Shawn W. Brooks met the boy over the internet while the boy was staying in the Utica area, officials said. He was charged after Connecticut State Police contacted the Utica Police Department with information last December, and the case was turned over to the Child Advocacy Center for investigation.
Brooks was indicted by an Oneida County Grand Jury on Dec. 1 on charges of second-degree criminal sexual act, a felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, officials said. He was arrested Wednesday and arraigned in Oneida County Court on Thursday, after which he was released on his own recognizance. ....
