A 26-year-old St Michael man has been remanded to Dodds prison for 28 days in connection with three fraud charges allegedly committed in two jurisdictions.
It is alleged that Kemo Avery Grant, from Rogers Road, Grazettes dishonestly obtained $398.49 in goods from BJ’s Value Market Inc trading as Popular Discount, with intent to permanently deprive the company, by falsely representing that eight $50 Popular Discount vouchers that he produced were good and valid orders for payment.
The offence is said to have occurred in the District ‘B’ Oistins jurisdiction on February 4. No plea was taken on that offence when Grant appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes. ....

Defence attorney Samuel Legay has urged a High Court Judge to show some leniency to his client who he said fled from police back in 2016 simply “out of fear”.
Legay was mitigating on behalf of St Philip resident Andrew Melvin Franklyn who had pleaded guilty to escaping from the Oistins Police Station without the use of force and assaulting constables Joseph Green and Rakem Gunning in the process on August 25, 2016.
The lawyer explained that Franklyn is known to the courts for theft, assault, criminal damage and burglary and was familiar with the police process. ....

The Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Road, St Michael, including the Records Section of the Registration Department, will reopen from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 20.

The Oistins Magistrates’ Court will reopen on Wednesday, April 21, while the Holetown Magistrates’ Court will sit at District D, Cane Garden, St Thomas, from today until Thursday, April 22. Only protection orders and new charge sheets will be heard there. ....

Former wanted man Kadeem Kwmaine Hunte was remanded to prison when he appeared in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court yesterday on nine charges spanning three jurisdictions.
Hunte, 28, of Maple Villa, Hastings, Christ Church, was charged with but pleaded not guilty to entering Daphnie Forde’s house, sometime between February 11 and 19, this year, and stealing a $900 television.
He was, however, not required to plead to having unlawful sexual intercourse with a female on April 3, this year.
Those charges allegedly occurred with District B Oistins’ jurisdiction. (HLE)
