NCC receives IPRA Award, wins SEMA 2020's Emergency, Security Mgt Prize

The contributions of the the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to the fight against insecurity in the country has received global endorsement with the Commission bagging two prestigious international awards at the weekend.
Leading the pack is the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards (GWA) 2020 won by the Commission for its harmonized emergency number, 112 and the construction of Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) in 36 states of the Federation and the FCT with 19 states already operational and additional 5 ready for activation.
The Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde in a statement said, the presentation of the IPRA Golden Global Awards (GGA) 2020 to the Commission had been scheduled to hold earlier this year in Germany but could not hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has received an International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Award and also won the Security Emergency and Management Award (SEMA).
The awards were in recognition of its contributions to the fight against insecurity in the country. NCC Director of Public Affairs Ikechukwu Adinde, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Adinde said the IPRA award won by the commission was for its harmonised emergency number, 112 and the construction of Emergency Communications Centres (ECCs) in 36 states of the Federation including the FCT.
He said that 19 states were already operational, while additional five were ready for activation. ....

A shift starting in the late 1960s has targeted poor families with unnecessary investigations and child removals at the expense of services, argues Mical Raz.
Black children are removed from their families at much greater rates than any other race or ethnicity in this country. At the same time the sheer number of all child abuse investigations in the US is staggering: experts estimate that by age 18 one out of three children has been the subject of a child protective services investigation. Yet, many of these investigations and removals are unjustified and stem from a misguided policy shift that began in the late 1960s, says  ....
