Local doctor brings PPE donation to Oceanside - The San Diego Union-Tribune

San Diego-area emergency physician Amy Aminlari saw front-line medical workers at the onset of the pandemic helping patients infected with COVID-19, while not having adequate personal protective equipment.
Aminlari, who tested positive for COVID-19, co-founded Last Mile San Diego to get masks and other personal protective equipment to front-line providers and at-risk communities that didn’t have access to adequate PPE throughout San Diego County.
As part of her efforts, Aminlari, who lives in North County, recently donated 72,000 half-liter hand sanitizers and 3,000 infrared thermometers to Oceanside and presented the supplies to Mayor Esther Sanchez for the communities hardest hit by COVID-19. ....

Sweetwater High School and City of National City partner to distribute PPE -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A massive donation effort put together by a nonprofit is about to help meet the needful more National City residents in need of PPE.
Even though students have yet to come back to in-person learning, Sweetwater High School was buzzing with activity Wednesday.
More than 80 pallets of PPE: hand sanitizer, face shields and hand-held thermometers, will be going to residents, families and organizations in need of these supplies in the South County region.
All these donations made possible by Last Mile San Diego. Dr. Amy Aminlari is founder of the non-profit.
She’s also an emergency room physician. “Our group is a group of volunteers working to protecting those at greatest risk of Covid… PPES still hard to come by,” said Dr. Aminlari. ....

South Bay PPE Giveaway – NBC 7 San Diego

We are honored and privileged to continue our collaboration with the city of National City, said Maribel Gavin, Sweetwater High School s principal. Sweetwater High School is happy to work with our mayor, Alejandra Sotelo-Solis, and assist with the distribution of much needed PPE to our community members. Together we can continue to put safety and health measures in place and do our part to reduce COVID cases. This is one step closer to bringing students back to our campus.
Volunteers on site Wednesday at Sweetwater will also conduct health screenings, officials said.
According to Last Mile San Diego s website, the volunteer group was founded by a San Diego emergency physician and her friend, who shared experiences and heard from other San Diego ER physicians and nurses that they were unable to access adequate PPE. ....
