16 Counties Moved To Lower COVID-19 Risk Levels, Including Lane

Sixteen Oregon counties will improve in their coronavirus risk level starting this Friday. Lane County will officially move down a category to “High risk after months of operating at the Extreme risk level.
No matter the risk level, health officials urge residents in all counties to continue mask wearing and social distancing with vigilance.

The move to High risk will mostly impact dining, entertainment, recreation and fitness. Indoor dining will now be allowed at 25% of a venue’s occupancy. Same goes for indoor performances and gyms.
Lane County Public Health spokesperson Jason Davis said this is something to celebrate. ....

Lane County Surpasses 6,000 Total COVID-19 Cases; Eugene Mission Outbreak Adds To Total

Public Health announced Friday, at least 6,028 residents have tested positive since the first cases of the novel coronavirus in the county were diagnosed in mid-March. Since then, case numbers have increased exponentially. On Friday, state labs confirmed an outbreak at the Eugene Mission adding to the county s case count.
The homeless shelter in Eugene has been notified that 68 residents and 1 staff member tested positive for COVID-19. Public Health reports the facility is working closely with health officials to slow the spread. This is the largest single outbreak within a homeless congregate setting in Lane County thus far.
Even after the first COVID-19 four cases were diagnosed in mid-March, it took months before facial coverings were mandated. Transmission of the virus has resulted in scores of outbreaks and community spread. The county just surpassed 6,000 cases. ....
