The Astoria man who took a dilapidated downtown building and renovated it into a luxury accommodation known as the Hotel Elliot and last year created a new modern building for a dialysis center on Marine Drive occupying a long-empty lot has a new idea. Chester Trabucco has turned his attention to filling another critical local need. He is floating the idea of using a new building technique to provide more multi-family housing by using shipping containers. It s an idea that is catching on in other parts of the country. The containers are already designed to be stacked so they can be configured in different ways into housing pods. Add windows, doors, and decks along with exterior siding they stop looking like cargo carriers and start looking like attractive, liveable spaces. ....
