George A. Young, loved the outdoors

George A. Young completed his earthly journey Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, in the emergency room of Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Johnstown, Pa., the son of George F. and Bertha B. Young.
George was active in community activities and was always available to help where needed. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He served as master of the Masonic Lodge, was a member of the Lord Baltimore Lions, and was both a deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian Church.
George loved the outdoors, and had many interests: golfing, fishing, gardening and hunting. As a member of the Indiana Bear Club, where he hunted deer, he helped maintain the camp, and enjoyed fellowship with the guys. Caning furniture was a favorite hobby. ....

Southeast Sussex Ministerium to hold drive-in Lenten service Feb. 24

The Southeast Sussex Ministerium will conduct a drive-in ecumenical service of prayer and praise at noon Feb. 24 in the parking lot of St George’s United Methodist Church, 34281 Omar Road, Clarksville.
The service, using attendees’ car radios for sound amplification, is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch, if they would like, and to later mingle, masked and at a safe distance.
For 26 years, preceding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministerium conducted Lenten soup-and-sandwich worship services on the Wednesday in Lent. The sites for the services would rotate among the Ministerium member churches and would follow different liturgical traditions. The single service on Feb. 24 is an effort to revive what had been customary in the southeast corner of Sussex County. ....
