CCBC to receive $92,000 via EARN Maryland program

ROSEDALE, MD Governor Larry Hogan on Friday announced that over $6.5 million in state funding has been awarded to 33 strategic industry partnerships through the Employment Advancement Right Now (EARN) Maryland program. EARN Maryland is the state’s nationally-recognized workforce initiative that helps businesses cultivate the skilled workforce they need to compete while preparing Marylanders for meaningful careers.
“As we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical to keep investing in a well-trained, highly-skilled workforce in order to rebuild our economy and ensure a sustainable future,” said Governor Hogan, “Our state continues to be nationally-recognized for our programs on workforce development and job training, and Labor’s EARN Maryland program will continue to lead the way and show the world that Maryland is open for business.” ....

Keep it Maryland Clean by minimizing shinkwrap

Shrinkwrap does a great job keeping boats clean and protected but it also is a single use plastic that generates tons of waste. The manufacturing of the wrap also contributes to air pollution. The Maryland Clean Marina Program is taking a two-pronged approach to prevent this plastic waste and recycle what there is. Boaters are encouraged to reduce, reuse and then recycle.
Shrinkwrap Recycling for 2021 In partnership with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland (MTAM) and Chesapeake Materials, the Maryland Clean Marina Program is working to help recycle shrinkwrap to reduce plastic waste. The goal this year is to collect and recycle at least 30,000 pounds of used wrap. Best efforts to recycle can fail due to the need to keep the wrap pure in order to make it reusable. All straps and debris must be removed. Help to make this program a success. ....

Pettit Marine Paint signed an exclusive agreement with I-Tech AB to develop a new antifouling biocide. Biotechnology company I-Tech AB previously developed Selektope, which repels barnacle larvae through natural receptor stimulation. The companies will work together to develop a line of antifouling coatings for the yacht market using Selektope.
The Marine Marketers of America announced a final call for entries for its 2020 Neptune Awards, with a deadline of Jan. 15.
