GamesAid raises £70,000 for multiple charities

UK games industry charity GamesAid has raised £70,000 ($84,985) and split the donation among seven different organizations.
The donation was presented to the following charities; Access Sport Trust, Autistica, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, Lifelites, Everyone Can, Solving Kids Cancer and MAPS.
The aid group has also recently appointed two new trustees to its board: Studio Gobo & Electric Square s Terry Haynes and Ukie s George Osborn.
Over the past year, I ve spoken with so many different charities who ve turned to games as a way to keep themselves going during an unimaginably tough year, said George Osborn.
I ve joined GamesAid as a trustee to do what I can to continue to support this essential work and continue to demonstrate the decent, kindhearted nature of the UK games industry to the wider world. ....

Paige Greenaway endured 'most tragic circumstances' before her death in Brighton

THERE was no foul play involved in the death of a young woman who featured in a TV documentary on homelessness and had endured “the most tragic combination of circumstances”, an inquest heard.
Paige Greenaway was found dead at her home in Richmond Terrace, Brighton, on Sunday, February 9 last year.
The 23-year-old had appeared in a BBC 3 documentary about people living on the streets of Brighton and Hove in 2017, when she was 21.
An inquest into her death began on October 15 and a provisional cause of death was given as hanging. ....

Police investigating Naomi Reid's death at flat in Preston Road, Brighton

A YOUNG woman who was found dead in a friend’s flat had a “highly toxic” level of prescription drugs in her body - but questions remain about how the drugs got into her system.
Police are still investigating after Naomi Reid died in a flat in Preston Road, Brighton, on the afternoon of Thursday, September 24, last year.
The 21-year-old, who was homeless at the time of her death but had previously lived in Selsey, had stayed overnight at her friend Layla Jones’ flat.
At the inquest into her death, held at Brighton Coroner’s Court on Wednesday, the court heard Naomi, her partner Rory Campbell and another friend, Sam Wilson, had all stayed at Ms Jones’ flat and had been up drinking until about 5am. ....
