With over 20 years’ experience in technology, Lia leads the consultancy side of Threat Protect’s service offering where she brings detailed knowledge of IT technology and a strong network of connections. Lia’s IT career began with studying Mathematics and Computer Science at University in Australia, where her passion for IT led to working in multiple countries as a contractor. Lia has since operated as CIO for several multi-national corporations before co-founding Threat Protect alongside Jonil Patel.
What was your first job? Growing up I had a lot of jobs. I was a swimming teacher, a barmaid, a fruit and vegetable packer, a farmhand, rouse about! But my first job in my chosen career was for a youth suicide prevention program. As I was studying Mathematics and Computer Science at University I was asked to develop a software program which would help identify children at risk youth in schools. Looking back at my education journey, I realised that I have been gradually specialising in a subject. Back when I was in secondary school, I was learning a wide variety of subjects: math, language, art, cooking, project learning, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, and even Chinese culture. However, when I entered high school, my subjects narrowed down to just math, language, project learning, physics, geography and chemistry. The number of subjects I was exposed went from 11 to 7 subjects. ....
