Vernon ISD Central Elementary closes after COVID-19 positive student dies

VERNON, Texas (TNN) - Vernon ISD’s Central Elementary closed Tuesday after the district was notified a student who tested positive for COVID-19 has died.
In a statement on the district’s Facebook, Superintendent Jeff Byrd said the last day the student was on campus was Friday, Jan. 22. Parents have been instructed to immediately pick up their children from the school. Bus routes will not run early. Staff will remain on campus until every student has been picked up or has taken the bus home at the end of the school day. ....
