17 observation missions get accredited for general elections in Peru | News | ANDINA

The National Elections Board (JNE) has so far recognized 17 bodies and international organizations as electoral observers in order to supervise the conduct of Peru s general elections on April 11.
The Cooperation and International Affairs Commission of the JNE said that the Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) is made up of 26 members, which is the largest one. Its members come from 12 countries.
In turn, the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), which brings together 11 organizations, has accredited 17 participants, who will arrive in the country in the coming days.
For their part, three experts on electoral issues from the European Union (from Spain and Portugal) are already in Peruvian territory. ....

Buenos Aires, Apr 3 (Prensa Latina) Prominent Latin American personalities, including several former presidents, today express their concern over the interference of the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, in Bolivia and rejected interference in the internal affairs of that country.
In a statement posted on internet, some 30 figures from the region declared that Almagro s recent statements set a dangerous precedent for an organization created with the purpose of seeking consensus, promoting inter-American dialogue, and the peaceful settlement of disputes in the hemisphere.
