AP Govt Appoints New Vice Chairman For Navaratnalu Programme

AMARAVATI: The government of Andhra Pradesh has appointed Ankamreddy Naga Narayana Murthy as the new Executive Vice Chairman of  Navaratnalu, the flagship welfare programme. Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das on Monday issued orders to this effect.
For effective implementation of Navaratnalu, an integrated welfare programme covering the core sectors, the State government has constituted Navaratnalu Implementation and Monitoring Committees both at the State and district levels. While the State level committee is headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Navaratnalu, covering key sectors of agriculture, health, education, housing, welfare and others. The government appointed a vice-chairman of the rank of a Cabinet minister for implementation and monitoring of the Navaratnalu programme with a direction to review all the connected departments implementing the programme. ....

GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has come down heavily on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his recent remarks on the roles of legislators in the State.
Addressing the media in Rajiv Bhawan here on Friday, APCC president Ripun Bora said, On July 6, Dr Sarma in a public meeting in Sorbhog remarked that the only role of the MLAs is to make laws in the Assembly, that they have no role in developmental work in their constituencies and responsibility of any development work in their constituencies is rested upon the Ministers and that no bureaucrat or officer is bound to listen to an MLA s directive. ....

Speedy implementation of relief schemes for children orphaned by COVID-19 is essential
Well begun is not always half done, and, in any case, half done is never good enough. The Centre’s response to the Supreme Court that the modalities of the expansive assistance programme for children orphaned by COVID-19, announced by the Prime Minister, were yet to be formulated comes as a disappointment. While rightly feted for its announcement of a comprehensive programme for the most vulnerable section of the population during this COVID-19 pandemic, children, the Centre did not lay down procedural formalities for implementation. It is clear from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights’ submission in the Supreme Court that nearly 10,000 children are in need of immediate care and protection.
