New Delhi, March 3 : The National Green Tribunal has issued a slew of directions to the chief secretaries of the states and union territories, and the Environment Ministry on a batch of applications relating to updation of enforcement and monitoring mechanism to control and regulate illegal sand mining, including riverbed sand mining.
Some of these applications have been pending for about seven years while others have been tagged to the pending matters later, from time to time, in view of common question of illegal sand mining. ....

Vijayawada: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed the AP government to take action against persons involved in illegal sand mining or exploitation of mines and minerals, by launching persecution, imposing penalty and collecting royalty.
The NGT, Southern Zone, Chennai comprising justice K. Ramakrishnan and expert member Saibal Dasgupta, while issuing an order on Monday on petitions filed by Devineni Rajasekhar and T.
