Isesco Chair at Qatar University holds conference on 'Occidentalism in Contemporary Cognitive Deliberation'

Doha: Isesco Chair in Alliance of Civilizations at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University, in cooperation with the Journal of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University, under the auspices of Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations, hosted a conference entitled “Conference on Occidentalism in Contemporary Cognitive Deliberation.”
A group of prominent international researchers specialized in Western studies, religions and the dialogue of civilizations participated in the conference.
The conference, which was held virtually, discussed several axes to crystallize systematic and legal rules in Islamic studies. Among those axes are the concept of Occidentalism, its objectives, and its historical development, Occidentalism in Arab and Islamic cognitive deliberation, as well as in the global cognitive deliberation field, aspects of the agreement and the difference between Occidentalism and Orientalism, ....

Qatar participates in UN-ECOSOC meeting

The State of Qatar participated in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) meeting on ‘Reimagining Equality: Eliminating racism, xenophobia and discrimination for all in the decade of action for the SDGs held through video conference technology yesterday. The delegation of the State of Qatar to the meeting was headed by the SecretaryGeneral of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Chairman of Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations, H E Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi. In a speech to the meeting, Dr. Al Hammadi stressed the need to address manifestations of extremism, racism, xenophobia, and discrimination, which are one of the main pillars for achieving the goals of the United Nations and other international conventions. ....
