Doha: The Qatar National Cancer Registry of the National Cancer Program at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has released recent data on cancer incidence rates in Qatar.
A total of 1,960 new cancer cases were diagnosed during 2018. Cases were distributed by 20% among Qataris, 80% among residents, 46% among females and 54% among males.
The most common cancer among all nationalities was breast cancer, accounting for 16.58% of all cancer cases, followed by colorectal cancer at 9.44%. 
Thyroid cancer was the third most common cancer, at 6.33% of all cancer cases.
Among females of all nationalities, breast cancer was the most common, accounting for 39.15% of all female cancer cases, followed by thyroid cancer. While in males, colorectal cancer was the most common, accounting for 10.93% of all male cancer cases, followed by prostate cancer, at 9.52%. ....

Doha: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) recently launched ‘It’s all about prevention’ campaign to raise awareness of colorectal cancer, which is the second common cancer between both genders, first common cancer across men, and third common cancer across females in Qatar according to Qatar National Cancer Registry (QNCR), Ministry of Public Health 2016.
Dr. Hadi Mohamad Abu Rasheed, Acting Head of Professional Development and Scientific Research Department at QCS, said: “More than 150 cases were diagnosed with colon cancer in Qatar, 67% of the cases in Qatar were males and 33% were females, 74% of the cases were non-Qatari, while 26% were Qatari, 69.9% of colon cancer patients have the chance to survive four years later after getting diagnosed.” ....

Qatar- QCS concludes campaign against cervical cancer


(MENAFN - Gulf Times)  Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has concluded ‘You are Precious campaign to raise awareness about cervical cancer, the sixth most diagnosed cancer among females in Qatar according to Qatar National Cancer Registry (QNCR) 2016 at the Ministry of Public Health. The campaign included many virtual workshops and competitions to raise awareness about signs, symptoms and risk factors about the disease and encouraged early detection by distributing 100 vouchers to do Pap Smear test free in Al Ahli Hospital.
Specialists including Dr Aisha al-Thani from Aisha Salman al-Thani Centre; Dr Sahar al-Ani, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Middle East Centre; Nour al-Bisani from Diet Delight Centre; Dr Nagham al-Kreedi at Al-Dafna Medical Centre, as well as media figure Amal Abdul-Malik participated in the campaign. ....
