Allegations of abuse of a minor have been made against Bishop John B. Brungardt of the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation as been notified of the allegations.
Effective immediately, the Congregation for Bishops has appointed Most Rev. Gerald Vincke, Bishop of Salina as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Dodge City.
Bishop Brungardt denies the allegations and has stepped aside from his duties.

The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City has stepped aside while authorities investigate an allegation that he abused a minor. The diocese said in a statement Monday that Bishop John Brungardt denies the allegation and will cooperate with the investigation.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation notified the diocese about the accusation and is investigating. The diocese said no further information will be released.
Brungardt was installed as bishop in the western Kansas diocese in February 2011. Before that, he served in the Wichita diocese for 12 years in several roles. ....

DODGE CITY – Bishop John B. Brungardt of the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City has been accused of abusing a minor, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation confirmed Monday. The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed related to the case.
An official statement from the Dodge City Diocese noted that Brungardt had been notified by the KBI of the accusation. “Bishop Brungardt denies the allegation and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.” ....
