Seymour Selectmen Discuss Updates to 2021-22 Capital Plan

The board unanimously approved the updated 2021-22 capital plan. The plan contained new figures for project cost estimates and moved some projects to the next fiscal year. Of note, Chief of Staff Rory Burke said the Public Works dump truck replacement is now projected to begin next year. He said the transfer station scale now is now fully funded. Mr. Burke said the Gas Boy software, tanks and pumps, are in rough shape and when the system goes down, parts often have to be scavenged. Mr. Burke said the original job was estimated at $100,000; the updated estimate is now $185,000. To fully fund the project, the boards approved putting aside $92,500 this year and the next to fund it by 2022-23.

Connecticut Green-Lights Statewide EV Charging Initiative PURA s chairman, Marissa P. Gillett Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) recently issued a final decision, as part of its Equitable Modern Grid initiative, to establish a nine-year program to support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state, focusing on equity and inclusion. The decision outlines a statewide EV charging program that provides a combination of incentives for infrastructure – including electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and fast-charging stations – and accompanying rate design offerings in an effort to develop a self-sustaining EV market, says PURA. The Connecticut Light and Power Co. (d/b/a Eversource Energy)and The United Illuminating Co. (UI) will administer the program beginning Jan. 1, 2022. In the coming months, PURA will work with Eversource, UI and other stakeholders to ensure the successful launch of the program.
