Ridgefield puts twist on Take Your Child to the Library Day

RIDGEFIELD Even a pandemic cannot stop librarians from delivering services to their patrons.
On Feb. 6, public libraries throughout Connecticut and country will celebrate the 10th annual Take Your Child to the Library Day with free, safe events and activities for children and families. The event launched in Connecticut in 2011 and has since grown to more than 1,300 participating libraries from 49 states and five countries.
Ridgefield Library has participated in the event for the past nine years.
Libraries serve a large purpose in children’s lives, not just on Take the Library to Your Child week, Ridgefield Library Director Brenda McKinley said. ....

For new Mystic & Noank library director, it's all about collaboration


GROTON — When Christine Bradley wakes up for work in the morning, she walks down her apartment stairs right into downtown Mystic. From there, it s only a six-minute stroll up the hill before she arrives at the Mystic and Noank Library, where she was recently named the new executive director. 
“I’m so lucky for that,” Bradley said of her apartment. “I’m huffing and puffing by the time I get there, but it’ll be good for me.
Bradley, who most recently served as the executive director of Norwalk Public Library, brings a “breadth of experience” to her new job in Mystic, according to Munro. She also has served as executive director of the Connecticut Library Consortium and president of the Connecticut Library Association. ....
