COVID-19: More Than Two Dozen CT Health Departments To Receive Federal Grants For Vaccines

“Our goal with the vaccination program is to reach out to every Connecticut resident, particularly those who have historically been underserved when it comes to access to health care, transportation, or other challenges,” Lamont said.
“Everybody deserves the right to access these lifesaving vaccines. We need to do everything we can to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to receive this care.”
The grant money will also be used to support transportation services, homebound and homeless vaccinations, and fixed site and mobile vaccination programs as the state seeks herd immunity by vaccinating 70 percent of residents.

Lamont Announces Partnership With Nine Historically African American Fraternities and Sororities To Encourage COVID-19 Vaccinations

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Connecticut Department of Public Health is partnering with the Connecticut chapters of nine historically African American, Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities to further combat COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and increase access to the vaccine within the state’s Black and Brown communities.
The partnership stems from the Department of Public Health’s Trusted Messenger Forum program, which works to train and provide trusted community leaders with messaging toolkits and methods to combat myths and misinformation with factual and scientific information about the COVID-19 vaccines. As a result of this partnership, the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities will be holding a series of free town hall events that will include discussions with well-known doctors, clinicians, and public servants who are members of each of the nine sororities and fraternizes and serve as trust ....

Lamont Announces Grants to 27 Local Health Departments in Connecticut Including Stamford

Governor Ned Lamont and the Connecticut Department of Public Health today announced that 27 municipalities and local health departments in Connecticut have been selected by the state to share in more than $13 million in federal grant money to be used to form partnerships between local health, community organizations, and vaccine providers to promote and increase vaccine equity.
Connecticut received the federal funding as part of a nationwide effort to ensure people in underserved communities, including communities of color and ethnically diverse communities, will have equal access to COVID-19 vaccinations. Achieving a high rate of vaccination among state residents is imperative to efforts in Connecticut, and nationwide, to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. ....
