Leavenworth County Health Department discontinues Friday COVID-19 updates

The Leavenworth County Health Department will no longer release COVID-19 updates on Fridays. The department will release only one update each week on Mondays, according to a spokeswoman for the county.
The Leavenworth County Health Department had been releasing updates about local COVID-19 cases each Monday and Friday.
But county spokeswoman Stephanie Sloop said in a news release Friday that the “Leavenworth County Health Department is moving to an all-inclusive update for our COVID-19 statistics posted weekly on Mondays. This move allows staff to continue their focus on vaccinations and preparations for moving into Phase 3 of the Kansas Vaccination Plan.” ....

Salina J.C. Penney to be used as COVID-19 vaccination site

The former site of J.C. Penney at Salina s Central Mall will be used as a temporary location for COVID-19 vaccinations of Phase 1 and Phase 2 populations in Saline County.
The Saline County Health Department, Salina Family Healthcare Center and Salina Regional Health Center announced a partnership to meet the demand for vaccinations for populations in Phases 1 and 2 in the county.
Currently the Kansas Vaccination Plan is in Phase 1, the vaccination of health care workers, long-term care employees and patients and emergency medical services workers.
Salina Family Healthcare said only Phase 1 is currently scheduled and is anticipated to last through the end of January. It also said a scheduling website will be available to handle vaccination appointments for eligible individuals. All communications about scheduled appointments will come from SFHC and its health care platform, Athena. ....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said the state should be done with Phase 1 of its vaccination plan by the end of January.
The governor made the announcement at her weekly press conference.
She expressed confidence in the number of vaccines that have been distributed throughout the state.
More than 45,000 doses have been doled out, Kelly said. Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Dr. Lee Norman estimated the actual number of vaccines distributed could be double that. ....
