Kansas State University President Richard Myers said Monday that he intends to retire at the end of the calendar year.Myers has been the university s president since 2016. The statement announcing his plans did not mention specific reasons for his retirement.A Kansas native, Myers graduated from the university in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and he joined the Air Force through Kansas State’s ROTC program. He became a four-star general and from 2001 to 2005 was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.During his tenure at the university, Myers oversaw the adoption of a new budget model and led an initiative to address declining enrollment, which included restructuring Kansas State s recruiting, student success and scholarship programs.The university also focused on diversity and inclusion, adding the Morris Family Multicultural Student Center, and elevating a diversity ....

Kansas State University President Richard Myers has announced he’s planning to retire at the end of this year.
Myers has been in his current position since 2016, and is also a professor of military history and leadership.
“Mary Jo and I truly loved our time at K-State and working with students, faculty and staff,” Myers said. “Being president of my alma mater was one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever had. Kansas State University President Richard Myers will retire at the end of 2021 calendar year.
Myers, who has served as the university’s 14th president since 2016, officially announced his intent Monday morning.
In a statement on K-State Today, the 79-year old Myers said, “Mary Jo and I truly loved our time at K-State and working with students, faculty and staff,” Myers said. “Being president of my alma mater was one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever had. It was an honor to help move K-State forward on many fronts. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the many talented and dedicated people who comprise the K-State family.” ....

University of Nebraska System President Ted Carter, together with three other public Midwestern university leaders, have announced a commitment to a new, first-of-its-kind academic alliance in support of the research and workforce needs of U.S. Space Command.
Carter – joined by Purdue University President Mitch Daniels, North Dakota University System Chancellor Mark Hagerott and Kansas State University President Richard Myers – touted the effort as a uniquely powerful draw for the Midwest as Nebraska seeks to become U.S. Space Command’s permanent home. Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue is one of six finalist sites currently under consideration by the Department of the Air Force. ....
