Blackburn museum history goes online for the pandemic age


The ‘Blackburn on the eve of the Industrial Revolution’ online lec ture
THE coronavirus pandemic has prompted Blackburn Museum to turn to new technology to provide its services to residents.
It has started streaming online history lessons on YouTube for schoolchildren and older enthusiasts to learn from and enjoy.
The series ‘Tales from the Collections’ is available now for residents to stream direct to their homes.
And it has just added its first local history video ‘Blackburn on the eve of the Industrial Revolution’ looking at the first map of Blackburn, drawn in 1737.
Blackburn Museum education officer Stephen Irwin said “We know a lot of children will be disappointed that they can’t visit the museum. This is our way of sharing our collections with families in Blackburn with Darwen, so that they can still experience and enjoy learning about history while the pandemic is ongoing.” ....
