Penrith City Council will soon introduce greater safety measures on dangerous roads in the LGA thanks to funding from the Australian Government.  
Council is receiving $623,000 under the Black Spot Program for 2021-22, with the money to be spent on overhauling two unsafe thoroughfares.  
These include Forrester Rd (between Glossop St and Christie St) in St Marys, and Victoria St (between Richmond Rd and east of Burton St) in Werrington – sites Council identified as black spots prior to applying for funding.  
The approved Black Spot funding allocations have been announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Barnaby Joyce, and Chair of the NSW Black Spot Consultative Panel, Dr David Gillespie.   ....

Almost 100 dangerous crash spots across NSW are going to be fixed including some of the worst in the Hunter.
Under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program 97 crash sites across NSW will be fixed across the next two years with a share in $34.4 million.
Lyne MP and Chair of the NSW Black Spot Consultative Committee Professor David Gillespie said the state would receive the money under the Black Spot Program’s 2021–22 funding round, with councils and the New South Wales Government contributing a further $2.5 million to the 97 successful projects.
“The Black Spot Program funds safety measures at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred, improving our roads to keeping our communities safe.” ....

A Richmond Valley councillor is calling for urgent action to fix two dangerous intersections in Casino.
At tonight s council meeting, Stephen Morrissey will put forward a motion raising concerns about traffic and pedestrian safety along Centre St (the Bruxner Highway) at the Richmond and Canterbury St intersections.
He says roundabouts should be installed and a safer pedestrian crossing facility is needed at the Centre/Barker Street intersection as a matter of urgency .
Cr Morrissey wants the council to write to Regional Transport and Roads Minister, Paul Toole, Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis and Page MP Kevin Hogan about the issue. ....
