NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) -Even with the Colonial Pipeline restarting, gas is still hard to come by across the Grand Strand.
Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at Gas Buddy, added that those numbers may go up even higher before falling back to normal.

David Congdon, executive chairman of Old Dominion Freight Line, received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award on April 22.
Bestowed by North Carolina governors, the award recognizes people who have made significant contributions to the state and their communities through service. The award ceremony was attended by North Carolina House of Representatives Speaker Tim Moore and North Carolina Trucking Association Chairman Keith Barnes.
Congdon, whose grandparents founded Old Dominion Freight Line, has been active in the Chamber of Commerce, the North Carolina Trucking Association and the Piedmont Triad Partnership. ....

Labor Dept. officially withdraws rule to define independent contractor within FLSA
The Department of Labor is officially withdrawing a late-Trump-era rulemaking that would have clarified the definition of what it means to be an
independent contractor within the Fair Labor Standards Act. Because the rule never took effect, owner-operators will see no changes as a result of the rule s withdrawal.
DOL published the final rule on Jan. 7, shortly before the end of Trump’s presidency. Just days prior to the rule’s publication, the incoming Biden administration specifically mentioned the independent contractor rule as one of Trump’s “midnight regulations” that would be halted. ....

AG Alan Wilson launching SC Highway Heroes Campaign to combat human trafficking

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is enlisting the help of truck drivers to curb human trafficking in the Palmetto State. Wilson, who is the chair of the State Human Trafficking Task Force, announced the launch of the SC Highway Heroes Campaign.
“With thousands of miles of highways in South Carolina, we need everybody’s help in identifying and reporting potential cases of human trafficking,” Attorney General Wilson said. “The State Task Force is eager to continue our efforts with the Trucking Association as well as other state agencies to offer this training to those working and driving on our roads every day.” ....
