Somasundarapalya Lake’s empty lake land near HSR Layout was once a dump for plastic waste and other garbage. Now, it is set to transform into a mini forest. More than 100 volunteers gathered on Saturday to plant saplings on the vacant land.

Karnataka Compost Development Corporation (KCDC) has regularised the services of four contract employees in a hush-hush manner, violating several
Supreme Court orders. This manner of acquiring government posts without clearing any competitive exams or following the reservation policy in recruitments has been brought to the notice of the
Finance department.
According to sources, the four contract employees whose services KCDC recently regularised are Prasanna E, Mohamed Rafiulla, Yogish P and Srinivas V. These employees were hired by the KCDC as storekeepers, plant managers, etc. on a temporary basis and have less than five years’ experience at the Corporation. ....

A task force to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in rural areas has been constituted in Mysuru district.
It will be headed by CEO of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat A.M. Yogesh. But the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the district magistrate and supersedes other officials in the hierarchy, is not included in the task force.

District Minister holds pre-budget meeting

Mysore/Mysuru: Ahead of next month’s State Budget, District Minister
S.T. Somashekar held a pre-budget meeting with BJP leaders at the party office in Chamarajapuram here on Monday.
Addressing the meeting, Somashekar said that he has received 15 suggestions so far, which chiefly included formation of a Dasara Development Authority, comprehensive development of the city and district and tourism promotion measures.
Pointing out that all the suggestions and inputs received will be discussed with the Chief Minister ahead of the budget, Somashekar said that a preliminary budget meeting will take place on Feb. 12 at Bengaluru, during which the CM will spell out the proposals sent by the DCs and ZP CEOs of all districts. ....
