Power cuts affecting teaching, office work at KU Karachi May 28, 2021 Unannounced power outages every day from six to eight hours have badly disrupted online classes and on-campus essential office work at Karachi University. According to the Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS), the varsity daily faces power outages of 10 to 12 hours. The power cuts have become a routine due to which chemicals of laboratories and other equipment worth millions are also affected. The teachers and students are forced to use offline resources for learning and teaching. If the situation remains the same, it would be difficult for faculty members to complete the courses before the semester exams, KUTS, adding that though Karachi University was exempted from loadshedding by K-Electric due to it being an educational and research institution, the varsity was still experiencing the worst power cuts. ....

LA School District Will Offer Full-Day, On-Campus Instruction This Fall LOS ANGELES Los Angeles Unified will offer all students the choice of returning to full-time instruction on campus this fall, although distance learning will also be available, school district officials announced May 24. Superintendent Austin Beutner said he expects the vast majority of students, teachers and staff to be at school every day starting in August, but there will be an online option for those who are unable or choose not to return to the classroom. School campuses, which closed due to the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, began reopening again this spring on a limited or hybrid digital basis with rigorous safety standards in place, as well as a COVID-19 testing program.
