DUI and license checkpoint leads to Redding arrests and citations
Here are the results from the Redding Police Department s traffic safety checkpoint conducted Friday night on Benton Drive.

REDDING, Calif. – Friday night a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and a driver’s license checkpoint was held on the 2200 block of Benton Drive in Redding between 6:30 and 10:00 p.m.
The checkpoint resulted in one arrest for DUI. The man arrested was 36-year-old Robert Moats of Redding.
566 vehicles went through the checkpoint and were screened by the Redding Police Department.
Three drivers were cited for driving on a suspended license, and two for driving without licenses. ....

Long Beach Police DUI checkpoint nets 11 citations and 2 DUI arrests


The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Traffic Section conducted a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Pacific Coast Highway and Loynes Street, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity to deter driving under the influence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.
In recent years, California has seen a disturbing increase in drug-impaired driving crashes. Long Beach Police Department supports the new effort from the Office of Traffic Safety that aims to educate all drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” If you take prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, you might be impaired enough to get a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI. ....

The California Highway Patrol issued a reminder to the public that the responsibility for road safety rests with both riders and drivers. The message is timely, coming after five men have lost their lives in motorcycle crashes since Memorial Day weekend in northern Santa Barbara County. ....
