ETSU announces 1911 Society honorees


Eleven members of the Class of 2021 who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence, service and leadership at East Tennessee State University have been inducted into the 1911 Society.
Named in commemoration of the year when ETSU was founded, the 1911 Society recognizes the university’s most notable graduates from undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The selection committee evaluates applicants on academic achievement; sustained service; honors, awards, recognitions, publications and presentations; demonstrated leadership; work experience, such as study abroad, internships, externships and clinicals; and personal narratives.
ETSU President Brian Noland said, “For more than a century, ETSU has carried forth a mission to improve the quality of life for the people of this region. In recognition of their leadership and contributions to WSU communities, 48 Washington State University students, 4 faculty and staff members, and several organizations will receive the Leadership and Engagement Award of Distinction (LEAD) during a ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20.
The event is coordinated by the Office of Student Involvement in the Division of Student Affairs and will include the inauguration of the newly elected president and vice president of the Associated Students of Washington State University (ASWSU). Members of the WSU community are invited to join the award recipients in viewing the ceremony via live stream. ....

Six exceptional Washington State University women were honored for their accomplishments, service, and commitment to student success at the Women of Distinction awards ceremony on April 16. The annual event, now in its 15th year, recognizes the incredible achievements of women in the WSU community.
This year’s award recipients represent a range of campuses, colleges, and academic and professional pursuits, but they all have one thing in common: a dedication to making their campuses and communities better places.
