But while some point to the COVID-19 pandemic as the primary culprit for the district’s challenges, education activists and residents say they’ve seen an educational crisis brewing in Pittsburgh Public Schools for some time.
With the impending May 18 primary, candidates running for school board see this moment as a chance to alchemize the educational system to ensure better outcomes for Pittsburgh youth, especially Black students, teachers, and others involved in the district.

These Massachusetts schools scored the lowest on Advanced Placement exams

The results for Advanced Placement exams are in and several Massachusetts districts scored within the lower tier.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released school, district and state averages for the 2019-2020 Advance Placement exams.
Statewide, 28.4 percent of participating students scored a one or two on the exams.
Advanced Placement exams were offered at home in May amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This could have influenced the scores compared to data from previous years.
