Pune mayor’s nudge for Kharadi CCC operational ByVijay ChavanVijay Chavan / Updated: Apr 20, 2021, 06:00 IST A day after Mirror published the news as to how a wellequipped 200-bed COVID care centre ( CCC) in Kharadi is ready with all the basic facilities since three months, but still lying unused and completely neglected from the planning, Mayor Muralidhar Mohol asked the health department of Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) to make this facility operational in the next few days. It has also been instructed to make 50 oxygen beds operational. As per the plan, apart from the 50 oxygen beds, 300 additional beds will be utilised as an isolation facility. The centre is located inside Late Vithoba Pathare Sports Complex –cum-auditorium in Kharadi Gaothan area located just a few meters away from the Eon IT Park and Magarpatta-Kharadi Road. ....

While tthe online admission process for Class XI students in the state is still going on, Maharashtra education department has announced that the admissions for the remaining seats will be done on a first-come-first-serve (FCFS) basis, adding that it would be the final chance for students to secure their admission. Confirming the developments, FCFS mode will be announced soon. Miffed with the announcements, parents’ organisations have written to the school education department, urging it to revoke the decision. Citing that the move does not justify the admission process, parents are of the opinion that giving preference to the FCFS method would discredit merit and do grave injustice to students who are yet to bag admis ....

Expressing their objections to the changed directives, candidates have written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, urging him to reconsider the decision. As per the new MPSC mandates, it has been decided to limit the maximum number of attempts to six for open category candidates, while aspirants from reserved categories could attempt for nine times at the most to clear the papers. ....
