LiveWell Finney County s COVID-19 testing and vaccine event in East Garden Village Thursday was a success.
Callie Dyer, executive director of LiveWell Finney County, said the event went really well, plenty of people turned out, got vaccines and got tested.
We re very pleased with the turnout and with the comments that we re hearing, she said.
LiveWell had 500 shots to give out and 700 saliva COVID tests. The event was free and did not require any identification.
Dyer said the reason for the event is LiveWell s mission, health for all in the community.
We want to be able to take stuff to the people and this is part of what we do. Not everybody has access, and being able to have access to care is real important to us, she said. One way for them to get access is to take it to them. ....

LiveWell Finney County to host COVID testing/vaccine event

A COVID-19 testing and vaccine event will be held at East Garden Village on April 8.
The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is being hosted by LiveWell Finney County in partnership with St. Catherine Hospital, Genesis Family Health, Finney County Health Department and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available to those 16 and over. It s a two-dose vaccine and the second dose will be again offered at East Garden Village on April 29.
Additionally, approximately 700 saliva COVID-19 testing kits will be available. The tests can be done on-site or people can take them home, do it at their convenience and drop it in a prepaid FedEx bag. ....

Garden City Commission extends city-wide face covering ordinance

Garden City’s face covering ordinance has been extended.
The Garden City Commission approved a 30-day extension to its face covering ordinance at its regular commission meeting Tuesday.
The extension was approved by a 3-2 vote, with Commissioners Manny Ortiz and Roy Cessna dissenting.
Originally, the ordinance approved at the city’s Nov. 17 regular meeting was designed to expire after 30 days unless extended by a majority vote of the commission prior to its expiration.
The commission will review the ordinance again at its Jan. 5 regular meeting.
Callie Dyer, executive director of LiveWell Finney County and a member of the city’s Community Health Advisory Board spoke on behalf of CHAB in favor of the ordinance’s extension. ....
