Group disperses art funds


Remaining members of the Central Colorado Performing Arts Center recently met to close the bank account of the nonprofit and distribute its remaining funds to area performing arts organizations.
CCPAC members presented checks to the Buena Vista High School Choir and Theater, Avery-Parsons Elementary School, the Buena Vista Middle School Band, the Collegiate Peaks Chorale, the Walden Chamber Music Society, Alpine Orchestra and Buena Vista Event Cooperative “in the hopes those organizations may continue to flourish and be enjoyed by the public,” said board member Kathi Perry.
“We started a 501c3 called Central Colorado Performing Arts Center (CCPAC) and leased land from the town where the dog park is located today,” Perry said. “For several years CCPAC hosted the Collegiate Peaks Music Festival. We sponsored Opera Colorado for the schools and brought in Think 360 Arts Tako drums so our young students could experience the fine arts. CCPAC was the umbr ....

Celebrates miracle of local music, musicians in our mountains


Chaffee County has a population of 20,000 people. On Friday, Dec. 11, a small miracle happened.
Not a miracle of unexplained origin or magic, but a miracle that occurred due to the vision of Brandon Chism, music pastor at ClearView Community Church.
Twenty-eight members of the Collegiate Peaks Chorale and the Alpine Orchestra, the majority from Chaffee County, gathered safely together to present a live streamed musical gift to the community.
Performing some of the greatest music of our western culture and with the help of ClearView’s technical crew and facility, it was an amazing evening for all involved.
That a community of so few could give so much of their time and hard work to create a beautiful concert made that miracle possible. ....

Tonight, at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, The Greater Arkansas River Valley Chamber Choir and Orchestra present “Gloria” a live Christmas concert. The event will be streamed live from the ClearView Community Church so you and your loved ones can gather some holiday cheer without leaving home.
Director Brandon Chism hopes that during the holiday season, the community can be renewed and refocused while choosing love and gratitude. The musicians participating in the performance live in Chaffee, Park, Summit and Lake county. Ensemble members represented in this performance include the Colorado Philharmonic, Summit Concert Band, Alpine Orchestra, Collegiate Peaks Chorale and the Notables. ....
