OCCF names Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez to its Board of Governors

The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) announced the addition of Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez to its Board of Governors. This leadership position is critical to OCCF’s Vision 2024 goals, including a bold aim to reach $1 billion in cumulative granting by 2024, becoming one of only 35 community foundations in the U.S. ever to reach that milestone.
Vazquez brings to the OCCF Board more than 25 years of leadership posts in local, state, and federal government during a highly-distinguished career of public service, in addition to senior leadership roles in the private sector, including for Edison International and Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities. Calif. Senate Overwhelmingly Passes Divestment From Turkey Bill

SACRAMENTO A bill allowing local agencies to divest from Turkey overwhelmingly passed the California State Senate on Monday, with a vote of 35-0. Senate Bill 457, introduced by Senator Anthony J. Portantino and Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk requires the Public Employees’ Retirement System and the State Teachers’ Retirement System Boards of Administration to allow school districts and cities to opt out of investment vehicles issued or owned by the Republic of Turkey.
“SB 457 would impose much needed economic consequences on a regime that continues to engage in an ongoing campaign of genocide denial,” stated Senator Portantino. ....
