The Queen THEY are the Winchester district heroes who have been recognised for their efforts. The 2021 list of New Year s Honours has been released and it features 11 people who have contributed to the district. Whether it is in the field of health, media or community service, they have all played their part – especially in what has been a difficult year. They are: Vivien Loveday, 75, of Bishop’s Waltham, is awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the community. For the past 40 years she has run the Bishops Waltham Gateway Club, which helps people with learning disabilities take part in leisure, social and creative activities. ....

Article content Four hours after the outdoor exhibit called Inside the Fall of CHOP was installed on kiosks on 8th Avenue outside of Arts Commons, someone tore it down. It wasn’t a complete surprise. Artist Nicole Wolf and photojournalist Gavin John’s exhibit was easy to get to, or at least the parts that were torn down were. They were posters that featured Wolf’s illustrations and John’s photography, inspired by their two-week stint in Seattle witnessing the tail-end of the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) and its aftermath. ....
