Jerry Lewis, who served the High Desert and other communities for nearly 50 years, dies at 86 Victorville Daily Press Jerry Lewis the longtime Southern California Republican who served the High Desert and other locales for more than four decades in increasingly influential roles, and who chaired the House Appropriations Committee in the mid-2000s has died. He was 86. Lewis’ brother, John, told the Daily Press that Jerry Lewis died at his home in Redlands. The late politician’s housekeeper found him on the floor of his bedroom sometime after 10 a.m. Thursday, John Lewis said. The official cause of death is not yet known. ....

Idaho AG says schools can ban electioneers on election days March 5, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail COEUR D ALENE, Idaho (AP) The Idaho Attorney General s office says a northern Idaho school district was within its rights to remove an electioneering demonstrator from elementary school property on Election Day. In a legal analysis released Thursday, Deputy Attorney General Robert Berry wrote that schools may control their property even when it is being used as a polling place, the Coeur d Alene Press reported. “Idaho law requires schools to provide their premises as polling locations,” Berry wrote. “However, public schools are not traditional public forums. Schools may control their property while it is being used as a polling place, and may exclude individuals from school property not involved in the voting process. ....
