HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong said the Alabama Department of Corrections is taking advantage of Madison County citizens and it’s costing money.
“We’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars of expense to the taxpayers of Madison County,” Strong said.
As of early January, Strong said there were 985 inmates in the Madison County Jail. Under state guidelines, any inmate convicted and sentenced must be transferred out of a county jail and into a state prison within 30 days of their sentencing. Strong says that isn’t happening. He told us about 190 of those 985 inmates should be in state prisons right now, but they’re not. They ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The permanent headquarters of U.S. Space Command will be located at Huntsvilleâs Redstone Arsenal.
According to a statement from the Secretary of the Air Force, Huntsville was confirmed as the preferred location for the U.S. Space Command Headquarters.
The Department of the Air Force conducted both virtual and on-site visits to assess which of six candidate locations would be best suited to host the U.S. Space Command Headquarters. The decision was based on factors related to mission, infrastructure capacity, community support and costs to the Department of Defense. ....

We know more than 300 Huntsville Hospital Healthcare System employees are out right now either because they have coronavirus or have been into close contact with someone who has it and have to quarantine.
