Electric bikes, also known as e-bikes, are bicycles equipped with an electric motor. District Communications Director Charlotte Reynolds said that several parents have reached out to the district and expressed their concerns about unsafe e-bike use on roads and pathways, primarily by middle school-age kids. Teton County Pathways and Trails Coordinator Brian Schilling said that several middle school-age kids have gotten into crashes while riding e-bikes, sometimes hurting other people. Presenters at the workshop talked about the importance of wearing a helmet, how to ride safely on roads and pathways, proper hand signals, and how to be respectful of pedestrians and other riders. ....

County Commissioners have joined Grand Teton National Park and Friends of Pathways in agreeing to pay more than planned toward a $2.26 million pathway just west of the Gros Ventre roundabout. âIâm really appreciative of their commitment to partnering with the park and with Friends of Pathways,â Katherine Dowson said of the boardâs decision. Dowson is executive director for Friends of Pathways. âI think the commissioners have really committed to the goals of their comprehensive plan and making sure people have comfortable choices for walking and biking,â she said. âThat seems to be well supported by all the commissioners right now.â ....
Local officials will likely need to pony up more money if they want to connect pathways near Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis to the pathway system in Grand Teton National Park. Specifically, Teton County, Grand Teton National Park and Friends of Pathways are trying to decide how to fund building a pathway stub dubbed the âSagebrush Pathway.â If completed, it would connect the northernmost section of county trails along Spring Gulch Road to the parkâs pathways near the roundabout at Gros Ventre Junction.
