Primary Watch: Prince William voters want new direction in Richmond, say GOP candidates
Tim Cox has only been on the political scene for a short time, but he’s already got the endorsement of two heavy-hitters in state and local politics in his run for the 51st District House of Delegates seat.
Ken Cuccinelli, who made an unsuccessful bid for Virginia Governor in 2013, and before that served in the House Delegates, this week threw his support behind Cox.
Jeanine Lawson, the second-longest serving member of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, also endorsed him. After the results of a firehouse primary in Manassas earlier this month, which saw the Lawson-endorsed Dr. Steve Pleickhardt, a dentist, win over his fellow Republican challenger to become nominee take on incumbent Lee Carter (D) in the adjacent 50th House District, it’s clear Lawson’s endorsement holds water. ....

Ceres Nanosciences Inc. will expand its operation in Prince William County’s Innovation Park to increase the manufacturing capacity of its Nanotrap® Magnetic Virus Particles for COVID-19 tests.
The project will create up to 50 new jobs in the engineering, advanced manufacturing, and materials sciences fields over the next three years and help establish a stable supply of testing reagents to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and ensure future readiness. ....

Cox seeks Pr. William Delegate seat, says GOP is party of legal immigration

Tim Cox is hoping Prince William County voters will meet him in the middle.
The 34-year-old conservative is running for the 51st District House of Delegates seat. As it sits today, the district includes a large swath of the county, from the county’s east side that favors Democrats, to the west side which largely votes Republican.
All political districts in the state will be redrawn soon as part of the decennial redistricting process. Cox hopes his campaign is enough to draw out both moderates and Republicans who don’t feel represented in Richmond. ....
