The new advice published on the goverment s website in recent days, which urges people to meet outdoors wherever possible and not to travel outside of affected areas includes the two places in East Lancashire but has so far been met with anger as people struggle to understand it.
Even Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council deputy leader Councillor Phil Riley said: While the numbers are increasing, all the evidence is that the cases are very much concentrated amongst teenagers and young people. ....

AN online petition calling for a breakaway from Blackburn with Darwen Council for Darwen has passed the halfway point of its goal of 5,000 signatures.
Darwen Town independence, on change.org, has been signed by 2,550 people but Dexit as it has become affectionately known in recent years has been on people’s minds for a lot longer.
Almost as soon as Blackburn and Darwen merged in 1974, Darwen residents claimed that they were being ‘left behind’ and their wishes ignored.
This most recent petition is at least the fourth in the past 20 years, often appearing after a new controversial decision by the borough council, such as recent planning applications for new houses to be built in Darwen in Pole Lane and Ellison Fold Way. ....

PEOPLE living near a school are fed up of their drives being blocked and parents parking dangerously at pick-up and drop-off times.
People in Dukes Brow in Blackburn have complained about parents of Queen Elizabeth s Grammar School pupils parking on the pavements in front of drives and over yellow zig-zag “KEEP CLEAR” road markings, despite this being illegal.
Elaine Swindlehurst, 53, said she has even been threatened by one parent when she reminded them that they couldn’t stop on the zig-zags because it endangers children s lives She said: “It’s never been this bad. I sometimes can’t get out to go to work in the morning. ....
