The district administration on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Le Crest Hospital, Vasundhara, for violating bio medical waste norms. The hospital management was also issued a warning for fudging records. It had ten vacant ICU/ventilator beds but showed all the beds occupied in its records.

GHAZIABAD: At the District Combined Hospital, muffled voices and sobs can be heard from almost every corner. While some are from grieving relatives trying to come to terms with their loss, many others could be seen looking for bodies of their loved ones.
On Thursday, a woman was found crying in the hospital’s parking lot as her relatives consoled her.
Her husband Pramod Sharma tested positive recently and was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. He passed away the next morning. His brother-in-law, Arun Sharma, said they got a call from the hospital and were informed that Pramod’s condition was “serious”. But when they reached, the 50-year-old man was not in his bed. After about 30 minutes and several rounds of the building, the family members found his body lying on a stretcher in a corridor. ....

Ghaziabad: Commuters driving from Delhi to Meerut will get the first full expressway experience beginning Thursday when the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opens the remaining two of the four phases of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) to traffic for a trial run.
If one is using the access-controlled lanes of the expressway the six middle lanes, three on either side the 82km drive from Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut will take under an hour. Earlier, the drive between the two cities used to take at least two hours. The formal inauguration of the expressway will, however, take place in about two months. ....
