Dodge City Daily Globe On Friday, June 25, the Final Friday downtown Dodge City event will be held for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down activities in 2020. The last Final Friday was held in February 2020. This year, according to organizers, will see some new downtown Dodge City locations taking part in the festivities. Kicking off the day will be Boot Hill Distillery (501 W. Spruce St.), with live music and cocktails at $6 running from 3 to 11 p.m. From 4 to 6 p.m. and from 4 to 10 p.m., the new Ford County Legacy Center (310 Gunsmoke St.), will feature motorsports legends and snacks and 2nd Ave. Art Guild (608 N. 2nd Ave.), will have refreshments and local artists on hand, respectively. ....
Dodge City Daily Globe The Victory Electric/CoBank Sharing Success grant recipients for 2020 were announced recently by Victory Electric Cooperative Assn. Inc. The 2020 recipients were New Chance Inc. and Salvation Army of Dodge City each received $10,000. According to Victory Electric vice president of communications Jerri Imgarten-Whitley, the grant aims to support local communities and people. Both recipients meet this goal by serving the community in different ways. A local alcohol and drug rehabilitation center, New Chance Inc. has been operating in the community for more than 40 years with both residential and outpatient services. According to New Chance, it intends to use the grant for technological and security upgrades to enhance and extend services. ....
Christmas and kindness in Dodge City Judd Weil Dodge City Daily Globe Every Friday throughout the month of December, Dodge City resident Shealyn Charles and her two daughters, Madilyne and Haelyn, under their banner the Breaking Bread Crew, have been delivering meals to people in need. Just like in November in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, when they delivered a large holiday meal, Charles and her family also will deliver larger Christmas dinners on Dec. 24, starting at 10 a.m. The cutoff for requesting the Christmas Eve meals will be noon Dec. 18, and any other cash or gift card donations up to that point will be picked up that morning, so that the Breaking Bread Crew can pick up whatever else they may need prior to delivery. People can still donate until that time. ....
