IT S all systems go as Bridport and west Dorset heads into the busiest summer ever .
The local tourism industry is preparing for a bumper season - and accommodation providers are saying bookings are coming in thick and fast as visitors opt for UK holidays amid uncertainty over foreign travel.
Paul Loud, owner of the Haddon House Hotel in West Bay and Chesil Beach Lodge in Burton Bradstock, says he s been taking as many as ten bookings a day.
He said: “It’s going to be a very busy season I think. We’re all very much looking forward to it, we need to get back to normal. ....

ADDITIONAL police officers will be on patrol from this weekend as Dorset Police receives £500,000 of additional funding to prepare for an influx of visitors.
Crowds are expected to descend on the coast for the Easter weekend, ahead of what police believe will be the county s busiest summer ever , as the weather brightens and lockdown restrictions ease.
The force has received £500,000 of funding from the government which will be spent on additional patrols as officers continue to use the 4Es approach - engage, explain, encourage and enforcement - when addressing members of the public.
Chief Constable of Dorset Police, James Vaughan, said: We have had half a million pounds of surge funding from the government so we can put some extra patrols on over Easter and the summer. ....

'Absolutely amazing' Covid-19 volunteers in Dorset thanked


POLICE, health and council bosses have joined forces to pay collective tribute and thanks to all the volunteers who have given their time and expertise for free during the coronavirus pandemic.
Volunteers have provided vital support to vulnerable residents with actions including delivering shopping and food parcels, collecting medication, co-ordinating hot meals and foodbanks, managing money, patient transport and doorstep chats to help with loneliness.
