Muncie to turn former GM site into solar field

MUNCIE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) The city of Muncie has announced plans to acquire a 53-acre portion of the former General Motors Manual Transmission plant property from Michigan-based RACER Trust. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed until the sale closes, but the city says it plans to transform the site into a solar field.
The solar field, according to the city, will have the capacity to generate 24.6 million kWh of electricity. Mayor Dan Ridenour says the combination of the property’s size and location makes it ideal for such a project. ....

Commonwealth Companies has named David Ritchay president of Commonwealth Development Corp.
Commonwealth Companies has named Brent Schumacher president of Commonwealth Construction Corp.
Fond du Lac-based Commonwealth Companies has named Brent Schumacher president of the firm’s construction arm and David Ritchay president of its development entity.
Schumacher will lead Commonwealth Construction Corporation and Ritchay will serve as president of Commonwealth Development Corporation, the company recently announced. Both appointments started on January 1. Commonwealth Companies’ services include affordable-housing development, construction services, architectural design and property operations.

DEVILS LAKE -ND – The North Dakota Industrial Commission (Commission) announced today that six projects have received funding commitments from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) to support the construction or rehabilitation of more than 200 affordable housing units.
During its most recent funding round, NDHFA allocated $3.25 million in federal tax credit authority through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. When syndicated, the credits will generate approximately $29 million in project equity. NDHFA also awarded $2.76 million through the National Housing Trust Fund (HTF).
“The development programs North Dakota Housing Finance Agency administers help to ensure vulnerable households have housing that is safe and affordable,” said Commission members in a joint statement.
