Daytona Beach Man Stabs Father During Struggle To take Knife Away

Daytona Beach, FL - A 66-year-old Daytona Beach man is recovering from stab wounds in the hospital and so is his son, 36-year-old Bruce Orsborn. Volusia Sheriff s investigators say the younger man stabbed his father in the back during a struggle over the knife. A witness told deputies that the son had made suicidal statements while brandishing the knife. The father tried to take the knife from him, which is when the stabbing occurred. Deputies were able to secure Orsborn who had a self-inflicted knife wound to his throat. Both men were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center as trauma alerts. The father is expected to survive his injuries but there s no word on Orsborn s condition. He faces charges of domestic battery on a person over 65. ....

A Daytona Beach man has been arrested and is accused of stabbing and wounding his father, according to officials with the Volusia County Sheriff s Office.The victim is 66 years old, officials said. He is recovering from stab wounds he suffered while trying to prevent his adult son from injuring himself with a knife, according to the report.Just before 7 a.m. Sunday, deputies were called to a disturbance at a home in the 1300 block of Fourth Street in Daytona Beach. The reporting person told deputies the son had made suicidal statements while brandishing a knife. According to the report, the father tried to take away the knife, but the son instead stabbed his father in the back.Responding deputies immediately secured the son, identified as Bruce Orsborn, 36.
