The Yorkton and District Community Foundation has received an $80 thousand investment committment from Legacy Co-Op. Co-Op General Manager Bruce Thurston says Legacy will provide $10 thousand per year for the next 8 years. Last year, Co-Op donated $10 thousand to the foundation, and was a major contributor to the “masks for seniors” initiative. ....

Legacy Co-op donates $21,753

The $21,753forms a large part of the yearly budget for the Soup Haven to provide lunches to kids.
Marilyn Dyck, ProgramDirector of The Soup Havenstated that “Legacy Co-op has been a huge supporter for almost 15 years now, with weekly bread donations, theChristmas Dinner and the Good Buy to Hunger campaign and we appreciate that whenever we call for help, they are willing to step up.”
An additional $1,200 raised by the Kamsack Food store and C-Store was donated to SIGN Positive Impact and will help the program fight hunger in Kamsack.
Sales for Legacy Co-op topped $93Million dollarsin 2020. As a regular business in the Top 100 Businesses in Saskatchewan, Legacy Co-op came in at # 53 in the 2020 listing.“ ....

YBID looks forward to the future after 2020

This year s YBID board will be Councillor Ken Chyz, Phoebe Buckle, Sean Craib-Petkau, Doug Hull, Sandy Kerr, Dave Nussbaumer, Gale Pelletier, Andrew Rae, Lauretta Ritchie-McInnes, Damon Syrota and Bruce Thurston.
Donna Brothwell, executive director of YBID, said that like most businesses, they also had to adapt and take different approaches to be successful over the past year. One of the big examples of that philosophy was the Santa Claus Day reverse parade, which had stationary floats which cars moved through. It was a big success, she said, and kept the Christmas tradition moving in the city.

Legacy Co-op celebrates grand opening

Locally owned and operated, the Legacy Co-op Liquor store project started in June 2019 with the purchase of a retail store permit, and was completed in December 2020. Local contractor NL Construction worked with local subtrades to complete the project. With the new liquor store, the co-op is expanding the services they offer the region, adding seven new local jobs and investing in the communities they serve.

Conveniently located adjacent to the Yorkton food store on Argyle street, the new store is highly accessible and offers the convenience of one stop shopping to members and community alike. It has a walk-in cooler, over 800 square feet, with refrigerated beer and coolers, offering a wide selection of products. “People can walk in, into the cooler, and pick their brand and kind of beverage, and come out,” says General Manager Bruce Thurston. “It will be nice to serve everyone from one location,” said Thurston, who stated that shoppers will b ....
