Georgia gas prices expected to rise for holiday weekend

(The Center Square) â While Georgiaâs gas prices remain below the national average, AAA predicts the cost of fuel will continue to climb over the holiday weekend.
More Americans will take road trips this Fourth of July weekend than ever before, AAA predicted. Nearly 44 million Americans will take a road trip this holiday, reflecting a 5% increase from the previous record in 2019. About 1.4 million of those drivers will be from Georgia, AAA estimated.
Drivers traveling in and out of Georgia will pay an average of 92 cents a gallon more for gas than they paid a year ago. Regular unleaded gas in Georgia costs an average of $2.91 a gallon, and premium averages $3.58 a gallon. The price of regular unleaded gas over the past week stabilized in Georgia, and premium gas increased in price by 1 cent. The state has the 11th-lowest average price for regular unleaded gas in the U.S. ....

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Gas prices are rising in the Chattahoochee Valley. Plenty of drivers are causing a frenzy by racing to the pumps and filling up.
Experts tell News Leader 9 that there is not a shortage of gas, but there are some places in this area that are experiencing outages, due to a high amount of drivers panic buying which is causing the prices to rise.
“We generally reserve that term to say there is a gasoline shortage and their is none available. That’s not what we’re seeing. There is plenty of gasoline that’s in the pipeline, that’s ready to be disbursed out to the station as soon as those pipelines are up and operating again,” said AAA spokesperson, Garrett Townsend. “For example, in the Columbus area the average is 2.82 a gallon, for regular unleaded. ....

MACON, Ga. It s been five days since the Georgia-based Colonial Pipeline has been offline, and it is beginning to impact drivers in Central Georgia.
Just a couple of hours ago, the Kroger gas station off of Hartley Bridge Road was completely abandoned. Now, there is a line to get in because a fuel truck came by and filled it with gas.
Many drivers around Georgia had trouble finding gas on Tuesday.
AAA spokesperson Garrett Townsend said, What were seeing throughout the state is just temporary outages. You might have to go to several places until you actually find fuel. ....
