Apple awards Corning $45 million from its Advanced Manufacturing Fund
Today, Apple is awarding $45 million from its Advanced Manufacturing Fund to Corning Incorporated, a supplier of precision glass for iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad. The funding will expand Corning’s manufacturing capacity in the US and drive research and development into innovative new technologies that support durability and long-lasting product life, building on both Apple and Corning’s deep commitment to protecting the environment.
Corning has already received $450 million from Apple’s $5 billion Advanced Manufacturing Fund over the last four years. Apple’s investment helps support more than 1,000 jobs across Corning’s US operations in Kentucky and other facilities. The investment has also helped facilitate research and development into state-of-the-art glass processes, which led to the creation of Ceramic Shield, a new material that is tougher than any smartphone glass. ....

Des Moines Art Center to present The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechter's Stained-Glass Art

On Saturday, February 13, the Des Moines Art Center will open The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechterâs Stained-Glass Art. Organized by the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, the exhibition will be on view in the Anna K. Meredith Gallery through May 23, 2021. The Art Centerâs presentation of the exhibition is overseen by Curatorial Manager Laura Burkhalter.
The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechterâs Stained-Glass Art is the first survey and major scholarly assessment of this groundbreaking artist’s 37-year career. From her start in the 1980s, Judith Schaechter (b. 1961) has stretched the medium of stained glass into an incisive art form for the twenty-first century, boldly paving her path in the diverse arena of contemporary art. North Country Children's Museum receives $3,000 grant to support education programs

POTSDAM The North Country Children s Museum was awarded a $3,000 grant to support education programs such as science, tech, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).
Weekend family programs and early childhood programs during the week are included with membership and admission.
We re grateful to the Corning Incorporated Foundation supporting these important educational programs,” said NCCM Executive Director Sharon Vegh Williams.”
The Children s Museums offers discounted, needs-based memberships for low-income families. The cost is $25 per family for the year and allows for unlimited entry to the museum and participation in drop-in family programs. Inquire about discounted memberships at the museum s front desk. ....
