Bilingual "Regio (Royal)" highlights lives of immigrant Latinx workers

“Regio (Royal),” a new theatre production that uses contemporary dance and puppetry to share stories about Latinx immigrant workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, premiers online May 21 and 23, produced by the Department of Performing and Media Arts, College of Arts and Sciences.

The performance is a collaboration between choreographer Juan Manuel Aldape Muñoz, members of Lilypad Puppet Theatre, and Latinx dancers from the Ithaca community. This project is supported by the Cornell Council for the Arts, Community Arts Partnership, Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County, Migrations Initiative, and the Festival of Latin American Contemporary Choreographers.  ....

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has approved a grant of $1.2 million to extend the Mellon Collaborative Studies in Architecture, Urbanism and the Humanities (AUH) interdisciplinary seminar series at Cornell University for three years with a focus on social justice.
The grant supports innovative, cross-disciplinary coursework on one of the most pressing problems of this generation: equity and justice in the U.S. built environment, said Meejin Yoon, the Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of Architecture, Art and Planning (AAP), which shares planning and administration of the seminars with the Society for the Humanities, in the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S). ....
